“As Masons, we each lay our designs upon the trestleboard—not for ourselves alone, but for the betterment of all, guided by the principles of truth, brotherly love, and relief.” – The Freemason’s Chronicle (November 17, 1900)

History of the Trestleboard

Historically, a trestleboard was a board upon which ancient stonemasons sketched designs and architectural plans before building. In modern Masonic usage, it serves a similar function—a Trestleboard is often a newsletter or bulletin issued by a lodge to inform members of upcoming meetings, events, degrees, and other important matters. It can also contain messages from the Worshipful Master, his pillars, lodge officers, and educational content.
